About East Burwood Care
East Burwood Care exists to give expression to the concern shared by the Burwood Heights Uniting Church and the Anglican Church of the Ascension for our community.
Over time we will establish a range of services. We are pleased that the Food Assistance and Support service is now operating, and we look forward to an extension into other areas as soon as we can.
Hampers for Christmas 2025
In December 2025 our amazing team of supporters and volunteers packed and delivered about a hundred Christmas Hampers to our clients. Thank you to everyone who helped with the project in any way.
It is not too late to help to offset the cost of the project, which is totally covered by donations from supporters. To add your donation, click here to open our Donation page.
Successful launch of East Burwood Care
A capacity crowd of nearly 100 supporters enjoyed the official launch of East Burwood Care on the afternoon of Saturday 18th October. After weeks of preparation by committee members Lorraine James and Denise Femino, and aided by the East Burwood Centre Manager Pam Young and the Chairperson of the Committee, Geoffrey Grinton, the event proved most successful, and clearly demonstrated the high level of support from the congregation and the community. Among those present were representatives of the Synod and Presbytery, as well as Federal and State members of Parliament and four of the Whitehorse City Councillors.
It was clear from the responses, both formal and informal, that there is widespread support for East Burwood Care, and we continue to look forward to a bright future of service.
Our Services
Over time, East Burwood Care will build up a range of outreach services.
Our initial focus will be on a continuation of the Food Assistance and Support service which has been operated from this site for many years.
Food Assistance and Support
Details of the current Food Assistance and Support service can be found here.
Our pantry is kept stocked by donations from congregation members and other supporters, as well as from other sources. Anyone visiting is assured of a warm welcome and the offer of a listening ear.
